For Valentino’s spring/summer 2023 collection, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli focused on creating a wardrobe that translates the ineffable essence of the individual into an outward projection, with clarity and purpose. Using a kind of subtraction that enhances through its purest forms, this is a celebration of the body and its idiosyncrasies – whether through bodysuits that shape or a new Toile Iconographe that hypnotises with repeating patterns and layers. TANK chose this cast of faces to be photographed in the Unboxing Collection, and Valentino’s own words guided the portrait sitters to reveal themselves: “Real people make things easier. They put the extraordinary in a familiar frame.”
