EWUSIEJoshua Ewusie, a Ghanaian-British designer from London, created this precision leather weave using a laser cutter. This apron and tabard-style top and skirt are both industrially robust and extremely precise. The leather itself was donated by Chanel, which has also supported Ewusie with studio space, giving him the room to work on his architectural but effortless-looking designs.
Rayelle wears a top and skirt by Ewusie and shoes by Jimmy Choo.
JOHANNA PARV
The latest collection from the Estonian-born, London based designer showcases her trademark sleekness, sportiness and sense of surprise. Intelligence is an over-used term in technical wear, often referring to smart fabrics or wicking technologies, but Parv’s intelligence is all design – clever clothing that marries its elegance to ingenuity.
All of Ting Ting’s clothes and accessories are by Johanna Parv, except her shoes, which are by Jimmy Choo.
JACEK GLEBA
For the young designer’s first Fashion East show, Gleba took his inspiration from dance and dancers. Here were chiffon tracksuit jackets, raw hems, ballet shoes: clothes designed for the stage. Inside, his labels were formed as diary entries, often notes that documented the process of making the collection. This romantic, flowy collection was all about movement: not only of the body, but also of time.
All of Ting Ting’s clothes are by Jacek Gleba. Her shoes are by Christian Louboutin.
ISSEY MIYAKE
Issey Miyake proves that it’s not just new designers who bring bold, impressively new ideas. Miyake combined the avant-garde and wearability in a show studded with big shoulders, draped trench coats, and layered, sheeny fabrics; the elevator pitch for which was, according to designer Satoshi Kondo, “What if garments became autonomous?”
All of Rayelle’s clothes and accessories are by Issey Miyake.
